This time we are praying in accordance with Jeremiah 29:7 which says:
"Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you... Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
To seek means to: pursue with care, enquire about, investigate, be intent on and make supplication or prayer about.
Peace and Prosperity in this passage is the Hebrew word Shalom which means: total well-being and is associated with God's presence among his people. It contains a sense of prosperity, success, welfare, a state of health, friendliness, deliverance and salvation. Shalom can mean safeness, salvation, a state of being free from danger, health, a lack of disease, wholeness or well-being, satisfaction, contentment, the state of having one's basic needs being met, blessing, kindness toward one another.
We are going to pray for the shalom of God to be extended over specific areas of our state.
